4.  Maihaugenvegen Open Air Museum and Village – In 1887 Anders Sandvig started collecting historic artifacts, buying his first building in 1894.  In 1901 he sold the collection to Selskapet til Lillehammer Bye Bel.  The museum opened in 1904.  One of the most prominent of the buildings in the collection is the Garmo Stave Church pictured above.  The church dates from 1150, was enlarged in 1730 and moved and rebuilt here at the Maihugen Village in 1920-1921.
