Hilton Barbados Resort. Needhams Point.

1. Needhams Point Lighthouse. 1855. 43 ft. high. Within 50 feet south of the Hilton Hotel.

Barbados Military Cemetery (Garrison Military Cemetery or Gravesend Cemetery. c. 1780). Oldest identifiable grave, 1822. (In the shadow of the Hilton Hotel).

2. St. Ann’s Fort and Barbados Independence Monument. 1705-1905. Phased out.

3. Main Guardhouse Building and Clock Tower. 1803.

Drill Hall building located at St. Ann’s Fort within the Garrison Historic Area. 1790.

Stone Barracks at the UNESCO World Heritage Site: Garrison Historic Area. 1791. Heavily damaged during 1831 hurricane. Rebuilt a short time later.

4. Bush Hill House. (George Washington House). c. 1717. George Washington stayed here 6 weeks in 1751. It was destroyed in 1780 and 1831 by hurricanes and rebuilt.

5. Barbados Museum and Historical Society. 1817 Upper section. 1853 Lower Section (Built under the 1817 building).

Across from the Barbados Museum is the Garrison Savannah Racetrack and stables. Every morning the horses go from the stables to the ocean for a swim:

Since 1982, the biggest horse race of the year takes place on the first Saturday in March.

In the middle of the infield at the Garrison Savannah Racetrack is the Barbados Independence Monument. The Monument is a tribute to the November 30, 1966 lowering of the British Union Jack and the raising of the Barbados flag.
